Any late model Ducati riders in here?  Im being lured to the darkside as I have come across a 999 that appeals to me.  Just wondering how many kms you do and what your servicing costs are.  I tend to do a few ks on my bikes so would prefer not to be spending all my pay each fortnight on a bike that spends most of its life in a shop.

cheers

they are a real nice bike. i like em. and with the advent of hte 1098 they dropped a lot in price. i was looking at them myself a little while back, but basically got told i ride too much. the are more money to service and have some big services in their life.

make sure you drop some pics this way if you buy. ducati red or my fav... the black or yellow?

I am a big Italian fan, but you need to ask about k's per tank.  Went for a ride with a 1098 and there was no time for a sore seat before he was fuelling again.

Yeah its a nice black one with termis and yeah the 1098 has dropped the 999 prices, good for buyers I guess coz they are still an awesome bike.  As for fuel well it couldnt be any worse than the 12R could it?  If i was giving the 12R some stick it used to need a top up after about 150 kms so as long as its no worse im sure i can live with it.  Just want to clarify the servicing rumours from someone that has one and actually rides it.   Plenty of people tell me they are expensive though I dont actually know anyone with one to get the real story.

The 1098 ws getting 120 km to a bigger tank than the XB.

I managed 265 on 13.4 litres on the stock system (Wondong to Wodonga), but now I get over 300 to a tank with the Micron on the highway and 260 - 270 around town.  Severe is around 225 230.

I haven't tried the bigger pulley with a full tank on the highway, but I can't see any benefit in consumption around town.  If I do get a bit better on the highway I'll be outdistancing some Longs and Ulys   wacko !

Nah havent looked at one yet, the local dealer in wagga reckons theres only a handful of dealers around aus that are getting demos wagga and even canberra not being one.  Makes it hard to sell a bike if you dont even have one for customers to see or ride.  Talked for a while about them and with a starting price of about $26000 plus on roads im thinking it would have to be a very special bike seeing as its in the same price range as a 1098 or an RSVR.  Its a lot of money for a bike thats not yet proven and doesnt have the history of the ducati or aprilia.
