Post Speed / Red light Cameras Reply with quote
Just recently got done by what I thought was a red-light camera.

No way! I thought. If I get a fine, I'll contest it. I was all the way through the intersection on amber.

Then two days ago I get the fine: $227 and 3 license points. For speeding.

Oh shit. That's right, I did speed up a bit to get through - it was at night, wet, hardly anyone else on the road, 70kmh zone (Dandenong Rd, Caulfield. cnr Orrong Rd.)

So now they're putting in combination speed/red light cameras. BEWARE!!!

I had heard a rumour along those lines but never gave it much thought

Seems you cant win either way :
You are entering an intersection as the light changes
Do you jump on the brakes & risk getting run over from behind, speed up a little to safely clear the intersection & risk a speeding fine or just continue through at normal pace & cop the red light ticket question question

Exactly right. Especially when you're travelling at 70kmh+, in the wet.

They've had the combination cameras in Vic for a few years now.

I've tested out the ABS in the cars & had the bike chattering at the lights a few times now.
But you have to be watching the twit that is following you as well though. You hit the brakes hard & the person following thinks they are going to speed through.

dont think they are phil... and unlike victoria. you have to have all speed cameras accompanied by warnings of 'in use'.

if htey conver redlight cameras to speed as well... you will have a fuking lot of signs to warn you!  eye roll

Now you gotta go to court to contest it. Money grabbin AHoles. grr

Well I seen a new one the other day.
About 10 km's out of Bendigo there is a railway crossing where they have just put up speed cameras & I assume they are a red light camera as well.

That stretch of road has been 100km/h since I was a kid then a couple of months ago I noticed they had put up 80 km/h signs a couple of hundred meters each side of the crossing & now the cameras facing each way.

The crossing is out on the highway so I bet there has been some revenue raised there lately.

Victorians also need to beware the speed cameras on the newly-opened section of the Eastern Freeway, and in the tunnels. They are set to pull in an unprecedented amount of revenue from unwary drivers.
