Post Victorian Blitz on Lane Splitting Reply with quote
The latest round of Police motorcyclists may have graduated and they have important work to do.

Lane splitting, including riding between stationary cars to the lights.  $180 and 2 points.

Sharing bicycle lanes has always been frowned upon.  Police are also running random licence and rego checks.

Melbourne city and he freeways seem to be getting a lot of attention.

looks like you guys need to get your shit together and do a mass ride in , like the trucks,
and take up ALL the lanes..... and go at a safe ( read slow) speed.. in rush hr traffic, take off from lights slowly,... then the next day lane split all you can..

see the differance...?

There is a local "bike blitz" at the moment here
Started last week by reports
I`ve been told the police are pulling up every bike they see & going right over it & the rider
A few friends have been pinched for minor stuff
I dont know how long it goes on for or how far spread it is question

Yeah we have similar 'flavour of the month' stuff here although by and large, we motorcyclists seem to get treated pretty fairly.
Most cops turn a blind eye to lane splitting so long as you are not being an idiot.

Started about 3 or 4 weeks ago in Brissy I think? One of my QMRF buddies told me it was supposed to be a 3 month thing (When did it ever stop?  eye roll ) where they really crack down on anything bike...
