Interesting day

As you might know, I work as a parts counter man, selling auto parts, and such. Since I started working there the two wheeled customers have realized there is someone there who speaks "motorcyle" and I regularly get folks calling asking for the motorcycle guy, so I can help them with problems that can be solved without paying high dealership prices for simple things like batteries and plugs and oil and filter and such. Today two riders pulled in, and I recognized their accents as European, but had to visit with them before I knew they were fron Holland, on a two week holiday in the States.
Anyway, long story shortish, the one with the chopper (see pics) needed his charging system checked out, and it turned out his regulator and stator were bad, and here the bike shops are closed Sunday and Monday, so I sold him a battery at my store, and remembered I had a 32 amp charging system at home, a take off from a bike I had upgraded to 40 amps, so they followed me home when I got off at 2:30, (Boy Scouts on Mondays for me and my boy)  and we changed out his charging system, and had them back on the road in about 2 hours, including time to visit and tell lies. Anyway, it was cool that of all the auto stores in town, they just happened to pick mine, and that I had exactly what they needed to get back on their way.

Well done fuzz  exclamation
A traveller always appreciates that sort of help
I bet they always remember "that friendly yank who helped us out"

I quite often pull up & chat to ppl who are obviously travelling through
Its interesting just to chat to them to see where there from, been & going to
If they seem decent (which most are) I`ll ask them if they want/need to come home to use shower & washing facilities
Sometimes they can use a home workshop & a few tools
Met a lot of nice ppl that way
One still sends a Xmas card each year

Oh...................nice pics too

I don't think you'd find car drivers helping each other out like that .
Well done Fuzz wink

Good for you.
They will never forget it. And isn't it amazing how good it makes ya feel to be able to help someone out eh?
Big time good karma coming YOUR way.

Good on ya mate, nice to help fellow motorcyclists out.Awhile back i had to go up the line a bit and myself and a mate (whos a Harley fanatic) jumped in my ute and headed north,on the way home it was pissing down as in so bad on the plains i couldnt pass anything as i couldnt see for the spray. We came across a guy standing on the side of the road by his bike so down the road a bit did a u-turn and went back...turns out it was a very wet 1200 sporty owner,it had succumbed to the rain and rather and no matter what we did wasnt going to fire so the 3 of us lifted it up on the back of the ute.....funny as hell watching the 2 Harley guys cuddling up on a bucket seat staring daggers at me talking about how reliable my old jappas are lol.

Mechanical entities created by imperfect beings break or wear out, regardless of their place of origin. (I know, cuz I work in a parts store!!!) I have helped just as many folks with broken jappas as I have American iron, but usually the results for the jappa riders are far less satisfactory, with the propensity for things being redesigned every year just because the factory can, and a 5 year old bike being damn near obsolete.
Breakdowns are just another part of the adventure of being a rider, especially with large numbers on the odometer, and just think, if the fellows yesterday hadn't broke down, they'd never have gotten a chance to meet me! LOL!!!
Buty seriously folks, I didn't do it because I wanted anything, other than to help, and it was cool for my son and I since I'd never heard Dutch spoken before, it is a very pretty language, and it was especially cool when they were discussing the pully blocking tool I had to make to get the motor nut off, cuz I could tell they wanted to keep it, even though I couldn't understand the words.
So, "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it."
