Scooped! Those XB air scoops are good for catching more than just air. Made this little discovery after I got back from riding the Christchurch-Punakaiki loop (700km). Its the second fatailty for the trip. The first was collected just above the high beam. He just left some feathers as a reminder unlike his little friend here.

It was during a 3 week heavy rain period where the bike got parked up for a while
That one day I noticed a decent hole "chewed" in my bike cover around the seat area
I intially paniced thinking there would be further chew damage under the cover on my bike
But after whipping it off & having a good look it appeared fine
Towards the end of the bad weather I thought I would service up the bike so it would have a fresh start
When I removed the outer airbox (pretend fuel tank) there I saw a rats nest (minus the tenenant)
And apart from your prerequesite grass & stuff, It was made mainly of my shreded bike cover
Being an 05 XB it has the in frame port from the LH scoop up to the air box
The rat must gone up the scoop & then up through the frame port to the air box

I had a sparrow commit kamikaze on the front of my bike once... a lot of gore for such a small bird...even my jacket and helmet were splattered
