Stone

Does anyone remember the classic Aussie biker film 'Stone'? It was touted as the Australian version of Easy Rider. Anyway, I'd been wanting to get this for ages, but couldn't find it anywhere until I saw it newly released by Umbrella entertainment.

You can order the DVD here Stone DVD for around $40.

Definitely a must have for any Oz dvd library.

Although fairly average acting & corny storyline it remains one of my all time favorites exclamation exclamation

I just had to get a Kwaka Z9 after seeing it
Meteor

Oh man, it's the corniest, man - can you dig it! Full on cliches - script and characters, but good entertainment. I saw it way back when it first came out in 1973, but a Z900 was way out of my price range. They probably still are! The rival club, the BlackHawks, is such a crackup - drunk, stoned, falling off their bikes.

The best part about it was getting to see Rebecca Gilling - of the life style show "Our house" when she was a youngin' getting her gear off. - BOOBIES

Oh and the blokes head rolling down the road after he was decapitated by the wire

Oh god yes. And the young Helen Morse is none too shabby either.

I saw it then too - so when I got my Kwaka a few years back I had to get the movie eye roll
Murdoch

Ok here it is
This pic was taken over 20 years ago now..................so don't laugh no no

73 Z1A Kwaka 900..............with the original 4 into 4`s

Meteor

They were such a great machine. All muscle. Apparently handled like shit because of a bendy frame - confirmation?
Murdoch

For their era they were superbikes.
Considering it was the early 70`s they certainly were ahead of their time
At the time I was in awe of its power
But handling..............well they were old water busses
Defiantly not the corner killers that are available today
But saying that..................I wish I never sold it cry
mick

what happened to the wig? raz  laughing
ajturbo

ahhhh those were the days...... very happy

There were worse.  Yamaha XS650 springs to mind, and I love them as well.

The Kwakas weren't precise maybe but they weren't too bad.  Stainless steel brakes needed drilling so you could stop in the wet, but they certainly had the motorcycle engine of the era.

If you had the dough and you spanked your Z1 you bought one of these frame kits from the UK made by the Rickman Bros,I've had this one since 1982.

Now that's nice.

When I went to Swinburne in '78, there was a Kwaka 900 with a nitrous oxide kit always parked there. I just used to drool over it. Can only imagine what that must have gone like. There was also occasionally a DKW rotary sitting there.

Murdoch

Whats that classic line from the movie.............question
Something like :

Untill you have ridden a big bike...................I mean a real big bike.....................really fast.................you`ve never lived

Stone was a defining time for me. I saw it 3 or 4  times I think at the  Orange Drive In. I remember the Koori guy (Midnight?) and the way he did the mad circle screaming the up on the back wheel at warp speed down the road. I wanted to do that...real bad. Still haven't got the balls to try though I can do the wheelie bit on my X1.
I have to try to get that out to watch it again. Great stuff. cool

Bloody beautiful Rickman there mate.
Fuzz

I'll have to look for that one over here laughing
